A team of scientists from MIT, in which the member is Croatian physicist Marin Soljačić, discovered a new phenomenon, which could revolutionize the technology of lasers and sensors.

Quite by accident and are looking for a totally different phenomenon, MIT sientists, among which is a Croatian physicist Marin Soljačić, discovered a new method of 'capture' of light, which could find a number of technological applications in technologies that require extreme precision laser and sensors.
They arrived to the phenomenon with the computer model, which was proved by experiment, and it creates two waves of light, of the same wavelength, but of opposite phase, so that they actually cancel each other out. Light of other wavelengths, which is located between the two waves passes normally, and MIT claims that the same method can be applied to other types of waves - sound, radio and even water waves and electrons (whose behavior is described by wave equations).
Baked 'pie', made delicious 'cake'
About discovery we talked with Dr. Marina Soljačić, who teaches physics at the prestigious and world famous university in Boston.
"We were looking for a second phenomenon that we believe that there should be, and accidentally stumbled on what we found. First we thought we made a mistake. But when we eliminated all possible sources of error, we tried to explain the phenomenon as a new manifestation of this phenomenon that we already knew before. When that did not work, we have looked at things 'deeper' and realized that it was indeed a new and unexpected phenomenon, I would say, told Soljačić about discovery.
The light that eliminates its propagation
Physics of this phenomenon is not really difficult to understand, as Soljačić explained to us.
'Imagine a material that has the property that the propagation (spread) of lights in it, for whatever reason, is prohibited. When light encounters the surface of such material, it has no choice but to be reflected. All mirrors that we have used and known in this world are implemented in this way. Now, we discovered a completely different kind of mirror that reflects light, not because the propagation of light is forbidden, but because the light eliminates its own propagation, explained a prominent Croatian physicist.
More closely related than the mirror glass
Related to this discovery, we immediately asked Soljacic whether classic mirrors owing to this discovery become redundant or obsolete, or are we to await a great changes related to this.
"Our concrete phenomenon is more closely related to the mirror than glass, but it has nothing to do with the classic mirrors. Whatever you do (in science, engineering, life), you always have to compromise between price and performance. The current mirrors are quite good for a lot of different applications. Our 'mirror' is of interest for specific applications, in which certain kinds of very good performance is very necessary, "explained Professor Soljačić.
Possible technological applications
Thus, the usual mirrors have no reason to 'shiver' in the front of newly competitive, but there are technologies that will grab this discovery and give them a maximum of abilities, and perhaps more.
'The main components of the laser mirrors, and a mediums for light amplification. 'Mirrors' similar to ours already used for certain types of lasers, so it is possible that our 'mirror' there could be a benefit.

And there is that cancelling opposite waves principle within which third wave can propagate at will.
Base description of scalar wave technology is null vector sum.
I.e. sum of vectors that is null to outside while inside there are opposing vectors that are not null. Or there be no vectors inside.

In other words, it seems that MIT finally discovered scalar technology that Tesla worked with, and which, According to Bearden, Russia is knee deep from middle of last century.
Perhaps Putin knows more.
