The biggest company in the world is days away from drilling for oil in the Alaskan Arctic

Dear friends across the USA,

An epic struggle for survival is unfolding in the pristine Arctic – but instead of finding a plan to save it, our government is allowing Shell to go in and drill for oil. Click below to call US Environmental Protection Agency chief Lisa Jackson and urge her to stop Shell and save the Arctic!

Send a message
The biggest company in the world is days away from drilling for oil in the Alaskan Arctic, a breeding ground for whales and polar bears. The Environmental Protection Agency can stop them, but it’s up to us to demand they do and save the Arctic now.

EPA Administrator, Lisa Jackson, can right now withdraw Shell's Arctic permit because the company is unable to meet air pollution controls for their ships, violating the terms of the permit. Environmental activists are raising the alarm, but unless we make it a huge scandal, Shell will use its muscle and the Arctic will be open for the oil business.

Lisa Jackson has stood up to the energy industry before, but Shell is a Goliath that won’t be easily knocked back. We are running out of time -- let’s make this decision the line in the sand that protects this great wilderness from becoming an oil field. Call Lisa Jackson now on 202-564-4700 and urge her to save the Arctic-- then let’s share our experience and thoughts by posting a comment at the link below.

Here are some suggestions for things to say:
  1. Shell has violated the terms of its Arctic permit by failing to meet the air quality requirements specified for ships.
  2. This violation means that Shell should be refused permission to drill in the Arctic right now.
  3. As a US citizen concerned about the demise of the Arctic and the threat of climate change, I urge you to fully revoke Shell's Arctic drilling permit.
  4. The Arctic is one of the world's last untouched environments. It is a treasure that should be protected for future generations to enjoy not opened up for oil companies to make more profits and further destroy our planet.
  5. You can stop the charge for Arctic drilling. If you revoke Shell's permit now it will send a clear message that the government is serious about preservation and the future of the planet. If you fail to revoke Shell's permit it will state clearly that the government puts polluters profits before people and our planet.
The Arctic is melting faster than most scientists predicted. Climate change is driving dangerous temperature rises -- just last week, a chunk of a glacier nearly 40 kilometres long broke off Greenland. Some estimates predict that in just 4 years, the arctic will be completely free of ice in the summer months.

Yet for some this planetary disaster is the 21st century gold rush. Companies and countries who hope to make billions are lining up to frantically grab their share of oil, gas, and minerals.

This is a simple decision: the people and planet’s future or increasing Big Oil’s profits with a 40% possibility of a catastrophic oil spill. If Lisa Jackson gives Shell the permit now then Exxon, Chevron and the rest of Big Oil will cover these beautiful icy landscapes with dirty rigs, pumps and pipes. Let’s now urge Lisa Jackson to stop Shell before it’s too late – Call the EPA now: 202-564-4700 and then leave a comment here:

Arctic drilling has already been condemned by the Insurance companies, the US Coast Guard, and in the last week, Greenpeace and others have been taking to the streets. But to stop this madness we all need to join together to target the one person that can stop it. Let’s ensure that the Arctic is saved from the danger of drilling and instead protected as a global treasure.

With hope,

save the trees wipe your but with a snowy owl, Pleeeasse get over it with this enviromaniacal BS. We wouldnt have to go to the Arctic if it wasnt for WACOS like you. Lets be wise and safely use our resources where ever they are, Not just close them all off to every one.

I am with 9:19, this is such a far fetched scream for help that it is like the little boy crying wolf!! The artic is a very large area and I don't believe that a couple of drilling rigs set up for a few months is going to do as much damage as this tree hugger claims that it will. WE have to realize that there is such a thing as progress! To agree with the idea that is profested in this article is to agree with the idea of depopulating the earth because there are too many humans here. GOD knows just how many humans he wants here on earth and he is in full control!!

Climate change is nothing but a scam and has already been proven so.....

DITTO, we could have oil right now from closer places BUT NOoo . The ice NOT melting , I read some reports last week it is growing .True in some places it is going down but in others it is growing. There is more oil in the north west than in the sand box over seas BUT the wacos are holding it up.What if Clinton had not stop us years ago ??? We would have plenty on line now.....Ms.Jackson has caused this our Country nothing but pain and headaches. Her new rules on sea going cargo ships is crazy. They can go anywhere on the planet but not into our harbors because they would pollute.just drive up our cost on everything....

We have wells all over the world and are still surviving along with our animal friends. This is just a way to perpuate an income for those who have drummed up a cause, like our Kennedy friend (Robert Jr. or Joe?). Like Anon. 9:19 said, it is environmaniacal BS. You can fault every single industry in the world for "polluting" the environment from the farmer, the plumber, the miner, the teacher (Good heavens! They use chalk!)the butcher, the baker, and even to the candlestick maker. Get over it! As long as people are responsible and use their resources wisely like Anon. said, man and his animal friends can live side by side. It is just another way to exert control and exercise power.

This story is really suspicious. It appears to be a 'scare' tactic to keep the brain dead believing that Carbon Dioxide is a pollutant. The folks who don't buy that garbage need to keep the focus on Carbon Dioxide, NOT on planetary warming. If you understand that Carbon Dioxide (WHICH GLOBAL CARBON TAXES ARE CALCULATED ON) does not harm planet Earth, you can defeat the CO2 global warming loonies. The critical thinkers need to stop the AGW folks from confusing this issue, which they do intentionally. Carbon Dioxide enhances plant growth. It is not harmful to the planet, nor is it a 'greenhouse gas'. The Carbon Dioxide 'causation' theory MUST be exposed.

Global Warming (Climate Change) is a two-fold issue:
1) the planet is warming - glaciers are melting
2) Rising Carbon Dioxide is responsible for this

Solution: defeat bogus science #2 and research quasi science #1

The Alaskian oil production issue is also quite confusing. Here is a story about the Alaskian refineries:

global warming is real and its a natural return to Gaias prestine state. Some things have to change in order for her to be fully restored!

ALL YOU PEOPLE ARE ARGUING ABOUT OIL AND HAVING AN ABUNDANCE OF IT WHEN FREE ENERGY HAS EXISTED SINCE THE 50'S!.....
