Health - Good News On The Ulcer Front

Hi John
I'd like to give you some encouraging news about ulcers.
First the bad...According to the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD, at least 1 in 10 Americans will develop a peptic ulcer. So if you have a continual burning pain in your stomach and perhaps nausea and vomiting, you may have an ulcer.
Research has determined that the Helicobacter pylori bacteria (H. pylori) can cause or worsen most ulcers.
But here's an interesting fact...
...The presence of H. pylori alone is not enough to cause ulcers. Because about HALF of Americans over age 60 carry H. pylori yet most don't develop ulcers. But half don't develop ulcers.
Whether or not you'll develop an ulcer also depends on things like your diet, long-term use of aspirin or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS), and the reaction of your immune system to the H. pylori bacteria.
Let's see what Big Pharma gives us...
The typical treatment for ulcers is "triple therapy" -- two powerful antibiotics to kill the H. pylori bacteria and an antacid to lower stomach acid and promote healing of the stomach wall.
Sounds good, right?
Wrong.
It's not effective.
It can actually do more harm than good.
Here's why:
To start, on triple therapy you'll take as many as 20 strong pills a day...enough to choke a horse.
Some of those pills, the antacids, stop your digestion, which is bad because your stomach needs acid to digest many types of foods, but the acid production is blocked or neutralized.
So you end up with gas, bloating, constipation and diarrhea.
Happy yet?
Didn't think so.
Plus the antacids also cause reduced nutrient absorption, which leads to increased appetite (and more of you to love, if you know what I mean).
The antibiotics aren't innocent either.
They completely throw your delicate intestinal flora balance out of whack -- obliterating your digestion and weakening your immune system, opening you up to a multitude of infections.
And let's not forget side-effects... like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dark stools, metallic taste in the mouth, dizziness, headache, and yeast infections in women.
Mmmm mmm, sign me up.
Now here's the real kicker.
After you go through all of this with triple therapy...
...H. pylori can grow BACK.
It very often does. Because triple therapy ignores the cause. So you'll be back at square one again with your stomach on fire and you buying another big bottle of expensive, ineffective drugs.
Probiotics shown effective against H. Pylori
What research is now showing has great promise with ulcers without all the nasty side-effects is probiotics.
Lab experiments have established that certain Lactobacillus strains -- L. acidophilus, L. salivarius and L. casei -- not only slows the growth of H. pylori, they can help kill it.
Research was conducted with a group of mice where they were given L. salivarius for a few days, then they were fed H. pylori. The researchers noted that the mice were completely protected from H. pylori infection.
Further studies were done with mice already infected with H. pylori. Feeding them L. salivarius after infection reduced the presence of H. pylori bacteria by more than 99%.
Similar exciting results have been seen in human studies:
In a study reported in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, researchers took a group of 70 adults who tested positive for H. pylori, but had no ulcer symptoms.
For a six-week period, 59 of the 70 adults were given yogurt to which effective doses of L. acidophilus and Bifidobacterium lactis were added (this NOT the kind of yogurt you get in grocery stores), and the other 11 just drank ordinary milk.
After the 6 weeks the H. pylori levels in the probiotic-laced yogurt group were lowered significantly, whereas the milk drinkers saw no change.
Two months after the study, after the yogurt group stopped taking probiotics, their H. pylori levels had again increased.
Because the digestive tract is where all disease begins and ends, stomach ulcers were two top priorities when we developed Super Shield multi-strain probiotic formula.
Unlike any commercially available yogurt, which typically does not contain enough probiotics to make a noticeable difference, Super Shield contains powerful, pharmaceutical-grade strains of the type of bacteria that were shown to be effective against H. pylori in research studies -- L. acidophilus, L. salivarius, L. casei and B. lactis.
These and the 9 other top shelf beneficial bacteria in Super Shield also continue their work "further down the road" in your digestive tract, enhancing digestion and keeping your colon wall healthy and strong.
It's not too late
And keep in mind, even if you have ulcers and are undergoing triple therapy, it's not too late for you.
Because Super Shield can help counteract the harm that the antibiotics are causing your system, restore balance to your intestinal flora, and help strengthen your immune system to encourage faster healing.
Just be sure to take Super Shield at least 2 hours AFTER you take your antibiotics.
Help prevent ulcers to begin with or, make this your LAST course of triple therapy with Super Shield. Learn more about it here at:

PS: Good digestive health and ulcer prevention also depends on a healthy, low acid diet. Great Taste No Pain shows you the few simple principles to follow to keep your digestion smooth, acid low, and you feeling great:
PPS: Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to ease digestive inflammation, which can lead to ulcers. According to an American Journal of Gastroenterology study, 7 out of 10 patients reduced or eliminated their anti-inflammatory meds by boosting Omega-3 EPA/DHA intake through diet or supplementation. VitalMega-3 fish oil supplements can help give you the essential Omega-3 fatty acids your body so desperately needs. Learn more about VitalMega-3 here at:
